"Sir, even Professors are not paid salaries for 5 months, what kind of education system it is in India? I'll not join academic field".

"Sir, even Professors are not paid salaries for 5 months, what kind of education system it is in India? I'll not join academic field."

(Please read carefully it's a turn around article....The student blamed and I defended it. 8 students in the class are going to be Professor, as they are passionate. We are together, but, this is Media approach in India/ Anywhere in the world, just in case they have to make the title sensational. Hope we take it positively. E. g. Just google it and you'll get at least 71000 URL's showing teachers and Professors Salaries are not paid on time....etc.)

We were debating on Education system and up gradation of it to world class level, for the Teachers Day and discussing our India Education System and Guru Shishya parampara/ Guru Disciple Heritage. For half an hour.
1. I told them what is the importance of Guru, how even Ram and Krishna had to got educated from their Guru.
2. How noble profession is the Teaching and Learning in India is.
3. How, Adhyatmically enlightened / Atmadnyani Gurus and Soul were wise and had wisdom to teach noble souls?
4. How, Takshshila and Nalanda were, and how world flocked to India for studying.
5. How was Vedic philosophy and how it's relevant.
6. What was the concept of 14 Kala and 64 Vidyas.
7. What is the HRD Ministry's role?
8. How RTE was implemented in Finland, and other countries.
9. UNESCO's warning to India.
10. Where are the road blocks for implementing good policies?
11. What are the problems of the new generation? What is the thought process?
12. Brain Drain.
13. KG to PG to Ph.D. education in India.
14. What are the bottlenecks in the system?
15. Idealistic Vs. Practicality.
HERE,
Suddenly one student got agitated and said, "Sir, even Professors are not paid salaries for 5 months, what kind of education system it is in India? I'll not join academic field. It's a farce, on one hand education is not profit industry in India but actually people find USD One Billion in the house of a person having education institute....and then he is jailed, and he has not paid 5 months salary to hie Professors and employees....just show off Sir....this world is just show off. My cousin was Lecturer in his School and when he didn't get Salary for 5 months....people asked him are you labourer, even they get salary though half they get and they sign on full... He was laughing matter for lot of people....I heard even in Pune same is the case, which is the education capital of Maharashtra."
Students laughed a lot. I too joined them. If his points are given more importance then hope we'll be able to make our education system better. Because, I think, this is the only thought process that have caused the Brain Drain in the past, and many IIT, IIM graduates and other experts left India, and hence this heading.
Then he said, "Sir, the Professors have all the knowledge how to fight with this curse but just remaining united don't solve the problem as they cannot fight with the real salary payers. They don't have courage and our Law in India is not matured enough right now at that level. UNESCO has already predicted we'll be left 50 years behind in case we don't upgrade. Sir, even IIT, IIM, IISc are not 100% strength of faculty and still appear in the top 1000 institutes in the world it means even the ranking agencies are fake all round the world.... We agree to some extend what you say....they are highly predictable....even we new generation say, they are fixed by governmental and not governmental agencies...."
At this I stopped him and said, "Don't be so rude against our top notch planners and politicians and educationists and businessmen and saints and sadhus and academicians and ...." All students laughed. I said, "Boy, the academics is in the hands of these people only.....". There was huge laughter.
Then he added, "Sir, you always say, you're good in teaching and academics please join it as a Assistant Professor after Ph.D. I just want to add here that I don't want to waste time, here in India, will take a MNC job earn for 20 years and live life comfortably....I could have been selected in IIT or even as IAS but avoided it for this reason only, Sir." All clapped and said, "Good plan."

"Sir, today, happens to be teachers day, and we respect you all. However, the ..................debate...becomes null and void at this point....that if we don't respect the nation builder teaches then how can nation be built? Are only people in authority or celebrity or.....known person can draw attention, what media is doing...are they dead? Why are not they result oriented? Why can't media fight for Professors or students till they get justice? Where is the ...."

"Sir, why can't the appointment letter copy send to the Bank where the salary account of the Teachers are there and if the full salary is not credited by 28/29/30/ 31st of every month then that education institute defaulter be put to justice after 3 months?"....

I told students, it's happening in may be few institutions, but, otherwise, it's a Noble profession, and 8 students are still interested in Profession and are going to pursue Ph.D.  in the past too, many were encouraged for the teaching and 90% have joined this profession who ever promised. Only 10% went into the business due to problems at home.

Student love India but where would they bring out their true emotions? We can't suppress the feelings and reality in life. They are saying/ claiming we suppressed the feelings of the past generation and now it has become a big problem for India. They are also true. They are saying idealistic is ok, but, practically this is the situation in India and it requires attention of all on earth, for the sake of humanity, because same problems persist in other 100 nations. So simultaneously we can find solutions to other places, institutes, nations, and organizations, as well.

Later, we discussed, so many solutions we discussed.....Later will try to put here if time permits.

"Sir, what are the exact qualifications required? Sometimes, I'm under Qualified sometimes, over Qualified?" Any Answer?

"Sir, what are the exact qualifications required? Sometimes, I'm under Qualified sometimes, over Qualified" few students, .....asked me today.
"Any answer, Sir?".....
I said, "The best person to answer is a HR professional who can decide it. Why they reject? Why they select? What is the over qualification and what is the under qualification? However, in a good organization there is a place for everyone. Take India, we've all kinds of people of every religion, caste, creed, qualifications, skills, ....this and that. Hence, tell me where were you rejected on such parameters?".
One candidate said, "On one occasion they wanted just B.Sc. B.Ed. and not M.Sc. B.Ed. or M. Phil. or Ph.D. and on one occasion they rejected me for want of books and publications. Sir, they should tell us before interviewing, as they don't pay Traveling Allowance (TA) and Dearness Allowance (DA) our money goes waste, this is my 25th interview, Sir. Sir, if we don't get job, where and who will feed our family? Can the world be so cruel to reject us on over qualifications, which is not letting us become successful in personal tutoring, or in teaching or in what ever we do?" ....the person started crying....and further said, "Government created so many colleges and we got qualified just to be called over qualified?"...Others laughed but...the candidate could not stop emotions....
Another said, "Even though vacancy is there, they want us to come on part time basis due to over qualifications. How can we feed our family?".
Another said, "Sir, now at the age of 50 years, what more they want to learn us? If told, I can build the whole building well, which can pass all the construction parameters, but, .....as we don't have qualifications many people reject us, Sir, on under-qualifications."
Another said, "Sir, ....................."
Another said, "Sir, in ICT we have tough days ahead for us. The books and technologies we learnt a decade ago is obsolete and now again we have to study new tech and again same issue of over and under....The brain becomes dust been of obsolete knowledge if the technology goes outdated...". (We laughed a lot).
One Prof said, "Sir, books has got more weight in the API Ratings hence we right books but some academicians ask the rated journal publications and SCOPUS, .....SCI.....etc. and blah blah blah...surely show off has entered the academics as well now, and we academicians don't like show-off, we can't ask someone to decorate us with this and that....it has to be recognized by others....somewhere we are over qualified and some places under...and we get rejected. Sometimes even the interviewers don't allow us to speak in case we are less in one and more in other....as they have their own candidate of choice, and, it has become one more rejection criteria...." Then what he said, is very important, "It's highly disgusting for a Ph.D. holder to be shown illiterate in some unknown domain....." ....we laughed a lot.
Another Professor said, "Sir, Business is over powering the academics....they offer us peanuts and when you see their balance sheet they earn a lot...but they don't pay us 7th pay commission by putting forward so many causes...Why can't they have "Neeyat hi nahi payment deney ki" i.e. "Intention to pay salary"....." We laughed a lot. Then he said, "Even, 10000 faculty position are vacant but even Government is not appointing them and they are getting done job of 10 person from 1 person, ......coming to other institutes....Professors can't do research of quality as they are over burdened with the admin work....the system is going to collapse.....sooner or later...and as you say next generation is going to curse us when we are buried under the earth after our death...." Again we laughed  lot.
There was no end.

I'm raising this issue, as, Children are saying, "Sir, your students are getting over literate and jobs are either becoming redundant or getting obsolete or stagnant or scanty or rare or unwanted or wanted but in different fashion or degrees becoming so-so, or someone do not want to make everyone happy or governments could not pursue the explosions or transparency is killing businesses of many (as per one businessman) or HR are doing just show-off jobs and they hire only their own people or interviews have become show-off, sir, or just to let the present employee not to ask raise they are conducting interviews or .........".
There were so many blame-games ..that even destiny could stop laughing at the remarks of young people... Personally, I had to tell the answers and console so many.

Later,
One of the senior jumped in, said, "Boys, the organizations sometimes play games and I'm aware about their nerves, they need people to work, be patient, they want the best hence sometimes it gets stretched but my experience of life shows that everyone get employees somewhere that is fitting for him."

Everyone got assured with this talk of him, and then we stopped talking over this issue.

Let's offer prayer to god in such a situation/s...."May god make everyone employable and employee or entrepreneur or self employee or self sufficient or ....at least an able person who can feed two square meals a day, to his/ her family and self".

"Sir, but, we would like to migrate to rich and developed nation, where there is a system, unlike in our country," few students, on contrasting views

"Sir, but, we would like to migrate to rich and developed nation, where there is a system, unlike in our country," few students, on contrasting views:

Once, I told this incidence,
http://managementengineering.blogspot.in/2015/10/richer-countrybigger-golden-fireyou.html
few agreed, however, few opposed.
 They had contrasting views.
"Sir, what kinds of values you're talking? The unity in family is vanishing even in India. Where is the system? You are from Maharashtra and you've Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad like places for good jobs, how about us? In our state not even our capital city matches the 10th rank city of Maharashtra. We would like to migrate to nations like New-Zealand or Australia or USA or European nations or even to Canada or any best country to live and do job or business. What kind of system we have, corrupt becomes rich in India, politicians grow geometrically in their lives and grab wealth which even their 100th generation can't digest. What kind of system are you are talking about, where are values? Money speaks from every angle, power speaks from every direction, they talk about eradication of poverty have they been able to achieve it? It's not charity, politics is most profit making business in India. We've seen government of every party, BJP, Congress.....but our city never changes....our state never changes..."

"Ok. Boy. Have you prepared yourself for that?" Dr. Ashish.

"No, Sir, but our family has made up our minds...." The student.

Other student started speaking like he wake up and came in the class, and said, "Sir,..."... everyone laughed..."Sir, we have been to Dubai, Singapore and we've seen the infrastructure....we would like to migrate there..."

We told him, how difficult it's to get immigration/ permanent residential.... visa. Then he said, "May be USA, my uncle migrated there in 1990's itself, he is from IIT. We'll work there for 7 years and then we get green card there...." and told everything about success that has brought to his uncle in USA.

So the debate continued....one student said, "Sir, we like to live peacefully, we don't agree there are borders in this world to fight....it's for living peacefully we would like to migrate....and which ever country has best norms we would go, we've everything money, degree, skills, ....everyone one in our home deserves USA, we're all professionally qualified have business, or are CEO/ Director in some companies in our joint family...some are super-specialists Doctors.....etc. We believe India is going to be supplier of the Human Resources to the world, due to English speaking professionals and what's wrong in that? You said, every house in your city have at least one person living in USA...because of this. What we earn and can contribute and see the progress in front of our eyes, while working, we can't be able to see in India....Politicians create money-black-holes in their houses and they siphon-off money from the Indian system, sir. We won't like to live in India."

When, I was teaching International Marketing to students from multiple countries, they said, "We believe in global citizenship as you Sir, we believe in border-less society, we're businessmen and / or entrepreneurs, let others do what they wish, we will do our business and will create more jobs worldwide, that's our contribution to society. We like your poem...whether you hate me whether you love me, I'm going to contribute, contribute, contribute...."

Many spoke, but, YES and NO, Positives and Negatives, ....the debate continued and everyone could prove his point well.....proving this world is full of talent and if these students get an opportunity to prove ....this world will be still better.

One student asked me, "Sir, Indian economy is growing but where are the jobs?"

One student asked me, "Sir, Indian economy is growing but where are the jobs?"

I asked him in return, "You're already in job, then why this question boy? Also, you're well skilled as well?"
(Verbatim) He said, "Our skills are useless Sir, it's of no use. Some companies do not like honest but skillful people like us. They earn a lot but they're not pay masters. Sir, we've taken loans from Bank for this degree, and we've to pay back it. In case company pays us Rs. 15000/ month i.e. almost 45 USD/ Month, then how can we pay back the loans and survive our daily lives? Why can't we have minimum wages act for each degree holder? We don't mind you Ph.D. holder people get highest salary but, our salaries are less than even illiterate people.....".

I was listening to his agony and pains he was going through. He was about to cry.

Hence, I became speechless, I had no answer.
